Summer Is Coming (Honest!)

Set Aside Your Sundays For Women’s Cricket

We have exciting developments for Women’s (and girls*) cricket at West Chiltington & Thakeham Cricket Club as we build on our 2024 successes with some new ventures.

*Girls aged 12+ are eligible to play women’s cricket

Aldridge@BACA Sussex Women's Cricket League

For the first time ever, we are going it alone in the Sussex Women’s Cricket League with a Women’s 1st XI. With so many talented players at the club, the time has come to spread our wings. It’s a perfect opportunity for our up-and-coming youngsters to gain more experience of the long-format game (35 overs) but also a chance for established players, or those returning to the game, to further develop the cricket they played at junior, club, university or county level.

We are drawn in Div 2 Central and will be pitched against the 1st XIs of Aldwick and St James-Montefiore and the 2nd XIs of Horsham, Bognor and Brighton & Hove.

All matches will be on Sunday afternoons.

Women’s Sussex Slam

For those for whom long-format is too long, we are yet again entered into the Women’s Slam. Fast, furious and fun, these 16 over matches will also be on Sunday afternoons; as far as is possible (fitted around the gaps in league fixtures). For the more experienced we have Slam Cup (standard rules). For those maybe taking their first steps into women’s hardball (be that juniors stepping up or softball players moving into hardball) we have the Slam Shield which is pairs cricket.

All Slam matches are 8-a-side. Slam Shield will be played as just four ‘Festival’ days across the whole season.

Women’s Softball

This is no fuss, no worries, no judgement cricket; a perfect introduction to those new to the game as well as an opportunity for anyone who just loves to play to do so without the hassle (and expense) of helmets, pads & gloves. This is ‘turn up and play’ cricket. No matter your age, fitness or cricketing experience, there is a place in the team for you. Matches will (mostly) be on Sundays.

SO......... SET ASIDE YOUR SUNDAYS FOR WOMEN’S CRICKET

(with the possibility of some midweek short-format games).

All players aged 12+ (and in year 8 at school) or aged 11+ (in year 7 at school and on county pathway) are eligible to play women’s cricket. We very much welcome the girls to the team. It is they who will take women’s cricket at West Chiltingon to the next level.
